The Founder & Creator

Meet Cindy Costley

Founder of the EBDT Institute | Creator of EBDT™

Cindy Costley is the creator of Electromagnetic Body Desensitization Technique (EBDT™), a body-led healing methodology developed through years of personal experience, observation, exploration, and an evolving understanding of the connections shaping human health and behavior.

Her work brings together perspectives from human physiology, energetic principles, emotional experiences, and the body's adaptive responses—offering practitioners a structured approach to exploring the deeper connections influencing how people feel, respond, and function.

Through the EBDT Institute, Cindy is bringing this methodology into practitioner education, creating opportunities for others to develop their understanding, expand their abilities, and work in deeper partnership with the body's intelligence.

The Discoveries

The Discoveries That Changed My Understanding of Healing

For much of my life, I experienced my body as something unpredictable. Its reactions shaped my daily experiences, my choices, and eventually my understanding of who I was.

One of the most profound turning points in my healing journey came when I began to recognize something entirely different:

My body wasn't betraying me. It was communicating with me.

That realization changed the way I approached healing. Instead of viewing my body's responses simply as problems to overcome, I began exploring what those responses might be revealing.

As my understanding developed, so did the methodology that would eventually become EBDT™.

But another important discovery was still ahead.

While working with past experiences and traumas, I noticed that certain events kept resurfacing. I could address one aspect of an experience, only to discover that another aspect of the same experience still needed attention.

I began to recognize that an experience could influence far more than a single emotion, belief, or physical response. It could shape interpretations, predictions, protective behaviors, physiological responses, and the ways the body continued adapting long after the original experience.

These weren't necessarily separate issues. They were interconnected parts of a larger adaptation.

That realization became a defining development in EBDT™.

What made this discovery especially meaningful was how it unfolded. Each new layer of understanding emerged through my own healing journey, as I learned to recognize and follow the information my body was revealing. My body guided me toward connections I had not yet recognized, gradually revealing what I now understand as the Architecture of Adaptation™.

The very intelligence that guided my own healing became the foundation of the methodology I would eventually teach to others.

The Vision

A Vision for a New Era of Healing

I envision a world where we approach healing with a deeper understanding of the intelligence within the human body.

A world where physical symptoms, emotional responses, behaviors, and the challenges we experience are explored not only as individual concerns, but also through the connections that may exist between them.

Where science, energy, spirituality, consciousness, and the human experience are brought into conversation, expanding the questions we ask and the possibilities we explore.

And where people are empowered to develop a meaningful relationship with their own bodies, recognizing that healing can be an active partnership rather than something that happens only through the intervention of others.

I believe healers and practitioners have an extraordinary opportunity to help shape a new era of healing.

Every practitioner brings a unique combination of knowledge, experience, intuition, compassion, and gifts to their work. I envision EBDT as a way to bring those gifts into partnership with the body's intelligence, opening new possibilities for healing and expanding what practitioners can bring to the people they serve.

As practitioners carry this understanding into their work, they have the opportunity to help shape a movement toward a new way of understanding and experiencing healing.

And the impact can extend far beyond the individuals they serve. As people develop deeper relationships with their own bodies, that awareness has the potential to influence their families, relationships, communities, and the way they experience the world.

This is the vision behind the EBDT Institute.

To educate, equip, and connect practitioners who are inspired to participate in this evolution of healing—and through their work, help bring a deeper understanding of the human body into the world.

The next era of healing is reconnection.

Beyond the Work

The Person Behind the Vision

I've always been fascinated by people—how differently we think, communicate, behave, and experience the world. I've often wondered what shapes our perspectives, why we respond to similar experiences in such different ways, and how deeply held beliefs can influence what we're willing to consider possible.

It wasn't until my own healing journey that I began turning that same curiosity toward my body, exploring what its responses might be communicating and discovering possibilities for healing I had never imagined.

I believe some of our most meaningful discoveries begin when we're willing to question what we think we know, remain curious about what we don't yet understand, and explore the possibilities that emerge when different perspectives come together.

That curiosity continues to inspire my work as a speaker and host of The Underlying Answers Podcast, where I explore health, human behavior, healing, and the deeper questions surrounding the human experience.

Outside of my work, some of my greatest joys are found in the simplest moments—spending time with my husband, our dog, our kids, and our grandchildren; camping; and being near the ocean. Whether I'm out on the water or simply enjoying the beauty of the coast, these are the moments that remind me how much I love the life I get to live.

After so many years of organizing my life around what my body could tolerate, I have a deep appreciation for the freedom to simply experience it.
